Interspectral and MMB Volum-e Formalize Strategic Partnership to Advance AI-Powered Quality Assurance in Additive Manufacturing
Norrköping, Sweden
Interspectral and MMB VOLUM-e have formalized a strategic partnership to accelerate the industrial adoption of AI-powered quality assurance in additive manufacturing.
The partnership builds on a successful multi-year collaboration and reflects a shared objective: to solve one of the key challenges in scaling additive manufacturing for production- faster, more reliable, and more automated quality control.
As AM moves from prototyping to serial production, manufacturers need better tools to reduce manual inspection, improve traceability, and make confident production decisions in real time. By combining Interspectral’s software expertise with MMB VOLUM-e’s production knowledge, the two companies aim to develop and validate solutions that address these needs under real manufacturing conditions.
As part of the partnership, MMB VOLUM-e will expand its use of Interspectral’s AM Explorer platform, including:
- QUALIFY for faster, data-driven accept/reject decisions
- DETECT for AI-based anomaly detection during builds
- MONITOR for real-time process visibility and reporting
Since early 2024, MMB VOLUM-e has processed more than 2,500 production builds through AM Explorer and now monitors 8 AM systems across its facilities.
“Before AM Explorer, our quality engineers spent several hours manually reviewing build data per production run,” said Clément Barret, MMB VOLUM-e. “Now, DETECT flags potential issues automatically during builds, and QUALIFY enables accept/reject decisions in record time, reducing analysis time by 90%. By sharing our production data with Interspectral, we’re helping advance the entire industry’s capabilities.”

The partnership will also support the development of next-generation AI models through the sharing of anonymized production data and operational insights, while maintaining strict confidentiality standards.
The expected outcome is to accelerate the shift toward predictive, automated, and scalable quality assurance in metal additive manufacturing, helping manufacturers reduce scrap, improve consistency, and increase confidence in production at scale.
Together, Interspectral and MMB VOLUM-e aim to help establish new benchmarks for quality, efficiency, and industrial readiness in additive manufacturing.

Attendees can explore the joint solution at RAPID TCT 2026, where Interspectral will showcase live demonstrations at Booth 1010.
