AM Explorer by Interspectral integrates E-PBF to Advance Precision Additive Manufacturing— Witness it in action at Formnext!
Norrköping, Sweden – 14 November 2024
(Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion) (E-PBF) has become a critical technology in additive manufacturing (AM), especially for applications requiring high precision, complex geometries, and superior material properties. Leveraging the power of E-PBF, manufacturers can produce intricate metal parts with remarkable accuracy, ideal for sectors like defense, medical technology, energy and industrial manufacturing. However, achieving reliable and consistent results in E-PBF processes has been challenging due to the need for advanced real-time monitoring and anomaly detection.
To address this, Interspectral has announced a strategic collaboration with Freemelt, a pioneer in E-PBF technology. This MoU combines Freemelt’s electron beam AM capabilities with the real-time visualization and advanced monitoring of Interspectral’s AM Explorer. Together, they aim to enhance precision, scalability, and efficiency in additive manufacturing, particularly for applications demanding high accuracy and reliability. This approach is set to deliver powerful AI-driven tools that improve process control, help users detect production anomalies, and make serial AM more reliable and scalable.
Strengthening Serial Production through Additive Manufacturing with AI and Real-Time Monitoring
Interspectral’s AM Explorer software will focus on deploying AI-enhanced automatic anomaly detection and closed-loop monitoring in Freemelt’s AM systems. Using the backscatter image data, AM Explorer can apply AI models that detect process irregularities in real-time, allowing operators to adjust or halt production as needed. This new method is set to enable an efficient, data-driven approach to quality assurance, helping manufacturers reach new levels of consistency in complex additive manufacturing tasks.
“By combining our expertise in real-time data visualization and anomaly detection with Freemelt’s cutting-edge E-PBF technology, we are set to deliver unprecedented levels of process control and reliability to the AM industry.” said Isabelle Hachette, CEO of Interspectral.
With pilot projects planned to refine and validate this integration, Interspectral is committed to providing manufacturers with sophisticated, data-driven tools that enhance E-PBF’s reliability. This innovation promises to streamline production, meet stringent quality standards, and unlock new possibilities in precision additive manufacturing.
